Nursery Labourer

About This Role

Education: No degree, certificate or diploma. Work site environment: Outdoors. Wet/damp. Hot. Tasks: Budding trees. Clear and collect brush and debris from fields and other work areas. Cut horticultural crops. Mixing fertilizer. Weeding. Spray or dust plants with insecticides and fungicides. Assist in pruning trees, shrubs and plants. Mix and prepare soils. Plant bulbs and seeds. Pot and re-pot plants. Transplant seedlings or rooted cuttings. Apply fertilizers. Report signs of insect or disease damage. Water and tend to plants, lawns and/or gardens. Type of product: Perennials. Ornamental trees, shrubs and hedges. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Fast-paced environment. Repetitive tasks. Handling heavy loads. Physically demanding. Standing for extended periods. Bending, crouching, kneeling. Weight handling: Up to 9 kg (20 lbs). Up to 23 kg (50 lbs). Personal suitability: Reliability. Government programs: Recognized employer. Experience: No experience (will train). Employment terms options: Day. Weekend. Overtime required.
