Truck Driver, Flatbed

About This Role

Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. Tasks: Address customers' complaints or concerns. Professionalism in customer service. Drive as part of a two-person team or convoy. Load and unload goods. Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials. Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment. Pay and receive payments for goods. Perform brake adjustments. Perform emergency roadside repairs. Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle. Perform preventive maintenance. Receive and relay information to central dispatch. Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption. Tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Air Brake (Z) Endorsement. Driver's License (Class 1 or A). Documentation knowledge: Accident or incident reports. Bill of lading. Driver logbook. Inspection report (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip). Maintenance and repair reports. Trip reports. Type of trucking and equipment: Flatbed. Tractor-trailer. Transportation/travel experience: International. Long-haul. Provincial/territorial. Security and safety: Driving record check (abstract). Drug test. Transportation/travel information: Valid driver's licence. Willing to travel for extended periods. Willing to travel overnight. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Attention to detail. Handling heavy loads. Large workload. Physically demanding. Weight handling: Up to 23 kg (50 lbs). Up to 45 kg (100 lbs). Own tools/equipment: Hard hat. Steel-toed safety boots. Experience: 1 to less than 7 months. Green job: Involves duties and responsibilities that lead to positive environmental outcomes.
